About Daily Bread in Abundance

Daily Bread in Abundance (DBIA) is a non-profit organization founded by Valerie Charles Deutsch in 2020. This was a time we all know very well to have been difficult for so many of us. As Covid-19 broke out, an overwhelming number of issues plagued our community. People began to lose their jobs and means to provide basic necessities for their families. The fear of not being able to feed one’s family or keep the lights on became the “norm” in the lives of so many.

Valerie saw this happening around her and decided she needed to be a part of the solution. She founded DBIA at a time when even her own family was tackling the same struggles that Covid-19 brought to so many others. As mentioned before, DBIA is a local non-profit organization that was created to support local families, senior citizens, and single mothers.

DBIA was founded in Andrews, Texas, the home to founder, Valerie. Since the launch of this organization, its outreach has spread throughout West Texas and also to East Texas. The organization provides meals to those in need. DBIA also helps those in a state of emergency who have a financial need. All funding is done through greatly appreciated donations.

Understanding the passion behind DBIA

Valerie speaks freely about her passion that helped her launch DBIA.

I am a follower of Jesus and I want to serve others like His Word tells me to do. My heart has always been to help single mothers/parents. But the last 10 years, my husband and I have really had a desire to help the elderly, as well.

Valerie’s family is deeply rooted in Faith and is full of others with the heart of generosity. She and other family members have been inspired by her father, Rev. Arthur (Dempsey) Charles. Rev. Charles spent his entire life serving others as the Lord asks of His children. To quote Valerie again in the Andrews Local Newspaper, “He was a living example of Jesus and I’m so thankful for him.” This piece of Valerie’s backstory concerning her father is crucial in understanding the passion behind her organization.
